A circuit breaker trip when there is an electrical fault that could cause damage to the circuit.

When a breaker starts tripping it’s a sign that you are requesting a lot of energy on the circuit and need to move some appliances and devices to the other circuits, or it might be a sign that you are receiving little energy and need to be checked.

What are the 3 main reasons why your circuit breaker keeps on tripping.

  1. Ground fault

A ground fault is when the electricity that is coming into your house takes an unplanned path to the ground. When contact is made between a hot and ground wire large amount of current goes through the circuit breaker which can cause it to trip.

  1. Short Circuit

A short circuit can simply be explained as an unwanted or unintentional path that current electricity can take which bypasses the routes that the current electricity is supposed to take.

It can also be described as when a hot or active electrical wire and a neutral wire touch, causing a large amount of current to flow and overload the circuit. A short circuit usually always causes a breaker to trip or a fuse to blow which can eventually lead to popping sounds or smoke.

  1. Circuit Overload

A circuit overload is basically when you to try use more electricity than what your current circuit can provide. This caused the overload and the breaker to trip as a protection mechanism.
